The Emergence AS4 is a refined embodiment of a classic audio system. The small footprint forward firing bass driver allows for the placement of the components readily into a typical TV cabinet. The wooden construction allows for a more open vent structure to be utilised allowing better bass refinement. Its the audiophile grade version of our small bass driver models. It uses the same satellites as the AT7.
Satellite Speakers
All Emergence models share the same satellite component thus providing an upgrade path through changing out the amp component. The Emergence Satellites are very much based on functional acoustic requirements. The reflector device that sits atop the design is dimensioned appropriately to convert the imperfect acoustics of the 2 inch aluminium dome full range driver into a pure diffusion in the 1400 Hz to 20,000 Hz frequency range. This band of mid and high frequencies is enough to give a wonderful holographic sound stage to music and performance. Below 1400 Hz the satellites’ full range driver provides clean crisp omnidirectional sound down to 250Hz where it is crossed over to the bass amp unit.
The discus shape of the base of the Emergence satellites contains a controlled volume of air to allow the full range driver to work down to low acoustic frequencies and the surface provides a baffle to control the projection of acoustic energy into the reflector irrespective of on what surface it is placed.
The Emergence AS4 Central Amplifier Unit
contains 120 watts of amplification
and a ‘balanced drive’ bass unit.
This central enclosure also contains 120 watts of power running at 0.002% (2 parts per million) distortion utilising the latest Hypex Ultra Class D (UcD) amplifier technology. The power is distributed at 30 watts each for the two Emergence Satellite hologram generators and 60 watts for the central bass unit. The amplifiers run at 92% efficiency and the power is supplied by a universal (whatever country, whatever main voltage) switch mode power supply that also runs at 90% efficiency. The end result electrically is a green audio system that sets new levels of performance as well as new levels of diminished demand on mains supply, minimising the operational carbon footprint of exquisite music listening.A version is being developed that includes AirPlay®Airplay is a Apple technology that allows a user to send audio to a loudspeaker using only wireless networking.
